Solaris sold its longest electric bus

At the beginning of October, Solaris landed an order for 14 bi-articulated electric buses with the Danish city of Aalborg. The 'Tide Bus Danmark' has placed an order for  24-meter long buses, MetroStyle, specially designed for Rapid Transit (BRT) routes.

The Urbino 24 electric bus is driven by two traction motors with a total power of 240 kW, propelling two driving axles. The Solaris High Energy battery pack installed in the e-bus with a total capacity of over 700 kWh will be charged via a plug-in connector.

Each of the 14 ordered e-buses will be fitted with automatic driver assistance systems. MirrorEye is a system of cameras that replace the rear- and side-view mirrors and ensure optimal visibility. Additionally, the system reduces the total width of the bus. The Mobileye Shield+ system will, in turn, eliminate risks related to the vehicle’s blind spots. Thanks to cameras placed on both its sides, the driver will receive warnings of pedestrians and cyclists nearby.

The vehicle was presented to the public for the first time at Busworld Europe 2019 in Brussels. The idea behind the vehicle was to create a platform for the future production of high occupancy buses with electric or hybrid drive, as well as trolleybuses.
